Music, finally…

It's about time to start getting back to some music posts, "life" has gotten in the way, whether it be work or party, the music content on this blog has been lacking.

Spent the better part of the last two days scouring the internet finding new releases by some favorite artists and new stuff by people i've never heard of. Made me fall in love again with hip-hop honestly... time to give the house and commercial crap i normally have to play a break, peep if you like...

Lupe Fiasco - I'm Beamin/Shining Down (feat. Matthew Santos)
new (old?) singles from the forthcoming "Lasers" LP, with "I'm Beamin" produced by The Neptunes. don't know when the full LP "Lasers" drops but these songs make it look like it might be one for 2010.

Janelle Monae ft. Big Boi - Tightrope
whether its her singing or the beat, the song is extremely infectious (probably both). woulda been even cooler to have Andre 3000 as well but Big Boi does it proper, again waiting for the LP "The ArchAndroid" to be released.

Consequence - Sounds G.O.O.D. 2 Me
this beat is HEAT. have loved this guy since ATCQ unleashed him on the masses back in the mid-90s, flow is timeless and can fit into even the more commercial joints nowadays (see "Make Her Say"). new mixtape and then LP "CONS TV" to drop hopefully within the next few months.

Aloe Blacc - I Need A Dollar/Take Me Back
since going solo, Aloe Blacc consistently is breaking into new soulful grooves whether he's still rappin or singing. the single "I Need A Dollar" was picked for the theme song to HBO's series "How To Make It In America" as well. keep singin Aloe...

Murs & 9th Wonder - 3:16 Part 2
followup to their 2004 collaboration (Murs 3:16, The 9th Edition) has them pairing up again with 9th's identifiable signature sound and Murs' tell-it-like-it-is delivery. LP is named FORNEVER and i have no idea when it's coming out, found this song randomly but makes me want to grab the FELT1 & FELT2 collabos with Slug just for sh*ts and giggles.

Gorillaz - Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach (featuring Snoop Dogg and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble)
the LP "Plastic Beach" JUST dropped and well, its pretty weird but in the style that only Damon Albarn can make weird sound good. with styles all over the place, it's organized chaos turned into a fullly functional long-player, just love how this song kicks it all off, go ahead Snoop!

You can find most of these songs on iTunes...

Ballin’ Review #23 – Kayumanis Nusa Dua

Think... fortress compound + cinnamon scent + unheralded service =

.... Kayumanis. With four locations in Bali (Sanur, Nusa Dua, Ubud, Jimbaran), they have consistently built their reputation on 3 principles; spacious grounds, utmost privacy, and personalized service. Starting with their Ubud location in 2002, Kayumanis just kept getting better and never really looked back. Winning multiple awards from Conde Nast Traveller and CNBC Asia Pacific, it really does feel like almost no one is around you.

Was lucky enough to score a few nights at their Nusa Dua location which turned out to be a great experience. Having stayed in many places in Bali, i can understand enough what seperates the good from the mediocre. Besides having your own personal butler there are plenty of other amenitities such as modern kitchen, huge pool, and free mini-bar (woohoo!). Kayumanis means cinnamon in Indonesian and EVERYTHING smelled like it, right down to the soap.

Also took a bike around Nusa Dua, have completely forgotten the "quiet" side of Bali. Gotta get outta Seminyak/Kuta more often!

Woe Is Them.

Arsenal really jammed themselves up after last night's sloppy play and even more horrible goalkeeping abilities. Cesc Fabregas summed it up, the two Porto scores were "schoolboy's goals" after keeper Fabianski's inexperience and timidness shined through.

Arsene Wenger might be a genius but he should really watch his words lately, Porto physically bullied Arsenal for most of the game and Arsenal just couldn't get it done. And although the refereeing was pretty abysmal it's still no excuse for them to not tighten up their game. If Arsenal don't advance after the next leg at home against Porto in the Champions League, i think it's safe to say bye bye to hero Fabregas.

HORSE MEAT DISCO – Bali

In one of the most daring and ludicrous thoughts ever, someone booked Horse Meat Disco from London to play at DeJa'Vu Club in Bali. Considering the amount of respect I have for Jim Stanton he brought along James Hilliard and ripped the roof off (albeit for 1.5 hours) with some of the dopest early leftfield disco jams.

Extremely funny scene watchin half of the crowd standing around without their BOOM BOOM beats and the rest of the crowd in a series of dancing, yelling, and drinking the night away scenes. Serious serious fun for an unexpected night. More please...
